Bransom Writers' Challenge #3 - Scary Spanking Stories

This challenge is going to be more relaxed thematically. Each story has to be either related to the Halloween holiday in some way, or else deal with a supernatural or horror theme in some way. In other words, a story dealing with trick-or-treating or a Halloween story would be acceptable, but so would a story dealing with werewolves or witches or a ghost story.

To be involved in this challenge, please send an e-mail of intent to me at jackwells@bransomtx.com

The stories need to be ready for submission to MMSA by 10/22. Just before that date, I'll send a mass e-mail to all participants with submission details and also as a reminder.

Cool. For once I've got my homework done well before the deadline.

Jack, a question about BWC#3. If we wait until the 22th to post it is a possibility that it will not be reviewed before Halloween. This is not a compliant about the reviewers.

I guess that's just a risk with which we'll have to live. When we sat the date (and I think we had a MMSA reviewer with us when we did), we were giving them several days to post, which is more than they usually take. We might have set it earlier, with a request to hold the stories until closer to the date, but it's too late now, and I don't know how many submitting authors have their stories ready at this time.

I guess anyone who has their stories ready can submit them now. Simply use the following format:

BWC #3 - Spooky Spankings - (Your Individual Title)

add a note that it's part of the next Bransom Writer's Challenge and ask them to hold it for posting on the 25th, if possible.

Thanks Jack.

My story is about ready to go. It's probably the least spooky of the lot but I think it'll do.

The stories are now up and I think there is a great collection. AWsum's story truly is Awesome. It's so funny it made my side ache, but it's still hot and warm--a very clever, well written romp for Hallo-weenie!

Cappy's story is spooky, with a haunted house, a frightening "shadow" voice and a series of very severe ghostly spanking--but at the same time, the loving father and son discipline that characterizes Cappy's fiction is still present (but you should read the story to understand exactly how Dad comforts Billy and helps him through an ordeal without ever being physically present.

Jack's story is another one with a spooky element. Jack describes the eerie, supernatural elements as well as Stephen King or Peter Straub, making them convincing. The punishments are severe and very hot. Jack introduces a neat generational conflict to the story that plays a role in the punishments and makes them even hotter (for me). I love the ending!

Skateski's story is not a spooky one, but a Halloween-themed one, and it's the sort of story that always pushes my buttons. It's a warm, loving father-son relationship, with a contrite boy who needs the catharsis of a good spanking. There are so many little touches throughout that make it special.

Uncle Charles' story is hot, with very harsh, humiliating punishments for a teenage boy. This one has no supernatural elements, but the severity of the punishments makes it a hot fantasy.

St. George's story is weird.

Treat:

Having six really excellent Halloween/spooky stories to read.

Trick:

Being wise enough to know that anything I might have come up with on those subjects would have paled in comparison.

The number of Challenge 3 stories has just increased by one.

With Kat's kind agreement his 'weird' story has, I believe, now become even weirder! affraid

Ivor's correct. His addition to the challenge is pretty "weird" but in a HOT way IMO! Be careful what you ask for, comes to mind!

GOOD JOB IVOR!

I'm afraid I rarely read Hallowe'en stories... the whole Hallowe'en thing doesn't appeal to me and really didn't even when I was a small child.

I did, of course, go out for the candy and normally ate myself into a tummy ache (and incidentally a subsequent intestinal flare up) but that was just opportunism. My sisters really got into the thing and "Sammy" still goes nuts on it; decorating her house for the night. I do like handing out candy to the toddlers; I hate handing out tosh to overweight, waddling teenagers, though.

This time, I did read the stories submitted by the group and cast my votes for them. I have to admit to a favourite, though I shan't mention which of you wrote it. I did enjoy all of them, though.

I find it very difficult to write stories to order - I have done so on three occasions - the two Christmas Stories and one challenge story written very early in the Canuck series (I shan't tell you which one it was because it wasn't very good and all - if any one guesses and wants confirmation I'll do it by P.M.).

If I feel I have sufficient inspiration I may contribute to the Christmas stories... that is, if my contribution is wanted, but I have no ideas at all as of yet. I haven't even been able to get started on the next "Minder". I have "Rochdale, the End of August, 1901" written at the top of an otherwise blank page.

Sorry for being such a bore.

Stevie.

A (very) late entry to the Challenge has appeared at MMSA today - "Spooky Spankings - The Wicked Man" by Kyle Nazard.

As Kyle himself says it isn't really a Halloween story but it is full of invention and happenings of what I would call an 'older' time.

It is quite a long read and, in my view, worth the effort although I have to say that I found the ending a little too unreal - but then it is fiction!

I really enjoyed the Kyle Nazard story, which was very hot. The ending might very well be unbelievable, but I must admit I liked it.

This group has really raised the bar and the stories were exceptionally good.

Well done to everyone; all eight : the original six, then Ivor's soon after -- a follow up to Kat's super one -- and Kyle's most recently. Everyone entered wholeheartedly into the spirit of the occasion affraid

Really a most impressive collection Very Happy

And thank you to Johnno for helping us with these challenges. He's a real "Wizard" when it comes to these things!

Thank you Johnno!
