Some of you may be aware that Uncle Charles (who is a Bransom member as well as MMSA writer) posed a challenge based on an article that Skinpang linked in the MMSA forum. The article link and information about the challenge are documented at MMSA, but I'll give a brief description. A pupil at a school in the UK protested against his school's uniform policy, which forbids the wearing of shorts in hot weather, by coming to school in his sister's skirt. The challenge is to write stories that deal with the same premise and describe how the boy's father or the school deal with his ingenuity/impertinence.

So far, Uncle Charles, Y Lee Coyote, Skinpang, Plagosus and I have posted stories.

Here is a link to the series page:

As my story somehow has failed to be linked with the others (I've requested a modification), it gives me a good excuse to promote it. Razz

My story's individual title is "Whatever Blows Your Skirt Up", and it's in the humorous vein.

Congratulations Kat, easily the best of the bunch so far.

Good story, close to the real facts and a realistic ending.

Kat, you'll never get a job in Hollywood. Very Happy

I have only read (in the newspapers) the true story, which is a happy one - about a good school where a boy was praised by the staff and supported by his fellow pupils for his imaginative protest.

I wish all schools could be tolerant and happy places.

I loved the "innit!" hilarious innit?

First the world didn't end and now this story appears!

What a nice sunny day!

Surely Skater that should be:

What a nice sunny day innit?

There is another submission in this challenge, this one by Malcolm Gates. It's very well written, and the kids' fun spank icon is inadequate to convey the nastiness of the 'mean girls' in this story.

A Sacrifice for a Principle
