Nathan’s Exhibition
An Ivor Production

You decide at the weekend to go to an exhibition at the local art gallery/museum in the city where you live. You consider it would be educational for your 15 year old son Nathan to accompany you and your wife. He isn't keen to go but reluctantly agrees when you agree that afterwards you will go to his favourite pizza place for a meal.

After a while looking at the exhibits Nathan starts to moan and whine. For the sake of a quiet life and not to disturb other visitors you agree he can go and wait for you in the restaurant. However, 45 minutes later when you go there, Nathan is nowhere to be seen. His mobile appears to be turned off.

When you step outside the museum this is what you see.

Is Nathan in trouble? Does it depend on what is in the glass?

I need clarification. I can't tell from the pic but is he holding a cigarette? The answer to that will depend on my reaction.

I was originally going to say I would not make a big deal over it that I bought this one by dragging him to the exhibition with me.

Now if he is smoking, his ass is grass.

As far as the drink. No restaurant would have served anything illegal to a minor - it doesn't concern me.

I mostly agree with DMK. Unless things have changed since I was last there, one can buy drinks legally in UK at 16. And unless things have changed since I was last there, if you look 16 (and 15 is close enough), I don't think a barkeep would insist on a picture ID (they didn't when I was a kid in London, though that's a lifetime ago).

That would be different in the US. As DMK has stated, I brought this on myself by insisting he come to the art gallery. And if that's a cigarette (or a joint) in his hand, and that's how it appears to me, he's in big trouble regardless of what's in the glass.

Yes he is.

O.k., there are others, and before I act I will need to investigate what was going on. Nevertheless, for the fag alone, he is toast.

It does appear to be a cigarette in his hand. If that is truly the case he's in more trouble than he may be prepared for.

As far as an alcoholic drink, it would not be legal here and the serving bar tender would be in lots of hot water, so I'm thinking his posture/attitude is more annoyed 15 year old than from alcohol.

Roasted rump will be dished up ASAP.

Geez, how many flavors of burnt toast shall I render here? I won't even begin to deal with the glass, as in the US, there's really no way that should contain an adult beverage.

There does appear to be a cigaret in hid grubby little fingers! This alone merits a serious strop/rear conversation.

All told, it would appear that someone is going to have an awful time sitting easily in the coming very short term!! Twisted Evil

I'm going to whack him.

If that is a cigarette, switches will be picked.

While I'm not real keen on the way he's behaving, the scenario says this is outside the museum, so I'm not going to make a big deal out of it.

I agree with DMK. If you want to get kids to actually like museums, you start by taking them to ones that will interest them. It's pretty darned rare that I want to go to an art museum, so I should have explained to Nate why I wanted to go to this, and let him take his DS, just in case this happened.

Dunno why I wanted to drag him to a museum in the first place.

He's only in trouble if that's a fag.

I think I'd give him a belting just for being stupid enough to smoke a cigarette so openly.

smoking is a no no and he is getting belted at home.We can still have the pizza meal if he wants or we can get on home and get it over with. In the Uk the legal age for buying a drink without an adult presentis 18 so I doubt Nathan has done that

In the interest af having Nathan accompany me next time I wish to go somewhere he is not enthusiastic about I shall say nothing now. He is in plain view at the museum, so he is close enough to where he is supposed to be, not to be in trouble for that. As for the possible cigarette, I will go online and order some nicotine test kits for about $2 each. These will demonstrate if there is nicotine in his blood, which is what I really care about. After the kits arrive I will test Nathan periodically to make sure he is not addicted or take severe measures if he is!
