Trevor - The Return of Good Boy Sunday
A Skater Production

Your son Trevor is 12 and in the 6th grade at school. This is the first year kids in your area go classroom to classroom for each subject. This change has been quite an adjustment for Trevor. He went for an easy honor roll student to his first quarter having three Cs.

You helped him to organize himself but he really worked hard. On Friday you got an email from Trevor's home room teacher. It seems he was named the Student of the Month. The award goes to the student with both outstanding effort and outstanding achievement. He's brought two of the C's up to Bs and the third (in Math) all the way to an A.

Well plan a day for you and Trevor. Remember what he likes best is... to hang out with his Dad. What will you do?

It depends on the time of year and our location. If it was yesterday and we're in this location, it's too cold and nasty for the beach or sailing or even something like paint ball. On the other hand, if he wants to hang out with me, seeing a movie or play wouldn't really be hanging out--you can only talk before and after.

I'm thinking laser tag might be fun for Trev, assuming he likes that. If not, I'm going to ask him what HE wants to do. It is, afterall, his reward.

Quoth Doc, "....after all, it's his reward."

I will forcefully second that.  Whatever HE wants to do is what we'll be going for!

We can go out for something to eat and then a movie or bowling.

It is his call. I am open to anything as long as weather and budget permits it.

As has already been said, it is his reward.

Well done Trevor!weather and budget permitting but I think probably professional sport of some sort or a movie followed by dinner out at a venue of his choosing within budget but better than burger bar

Sure thing - his call. But possible activities are quite limited this time of the year, sadly.

"Hang out with me, Trevor? You sure you wouldn't really like to hang over my knee? We could make music together then. I'll provide the rhythm and you can do the vocals." Laughing

I'm not sure why changing class rooms would cause problems like that. I'm sure I've been keeping my eyes out for other causes, but if he's brought them up that much, maybe he's just incredibly disorganized.

If this is this weekend, then I'm sure Trev and I are going to spend the day at home. We'll set a fire in the fire place, watch some movies, read, play some video games, have grilled cheese and tomato soup, and maybe order pizza for dinner.

If it's actually nice weather, maybe we'll put the top down and go drive around the lake for a while, and just see what we feel like doing.

I'm proud of the way that Trevor has worked and turned things round but I'm also sure that I'm not the only joy in his life and I'm not going to arrange anything that would exclude his equally proud mother.

WE will congratulate him and tell him how proud WE are of him.  WE will tell him his effort and success in turning things round are worthy of a special reward and WE will ask him what he would like to HAVE or DO.

Perhaps he would like to start with a retrospective play spanking for those three C's and a couple of stingoors to remind him to stay on top of things in future. Twisted Evil

LOL that exactly what happened to me when I went from the 6th grade to the 7th Smile

I think I will attempt some of the crazy video games he plays.. he might find it fun beating the old man. Smile

We'll head to the shop and make something together. He has been wanting me to teach him to use the tools for a long time, but we've never managed to find a time that works well for both of us. There are any number of projects that he will enjoy building.
