Barnyard Mayhem
A Dimitri/1strappedboy Production

Thirteen year old Dimitri and buddy Greg (who is also a farmer's son) were sent to the henhouse to collect the eggs.  As usual, they aren't too enthusiastic about being "sent" to do chores so they decide to have some fun at your expense.  The two young Einsteins decide to move the chickens to another barn.  Despite the fact that young Dimitri really should know better, you walk out to find....

Just how much trouble are the boys in?

The closest I have ever truly been to a chicken is the grocer's meat case so I have no idea if this was harmful to the chickens or not.  If this was a bad thing to do to the chickens and if they were endangered then we are looking at two moderate spankings.  If not, it is a harmless prank, and the boys can put the chickens back where they belong.

They can put the chickens back.

No spankings.

These brown fellas looks like healthy free range chicken, so no harm should been done by temporary moving them. And since the prank failed completely no harm was done to me either. Stingers and tickles, then bring them back, boys.

This was either a silly and irresponsible prank or else, as appears to be the case, the chickens were free ranging. If the latter, and assuming there was nothing in the barn that could be harmful or harmed, I've caught them before they could dash back in to tell me the chickens had vanished and I'll enter the spirit of the game and dispense a few stingoors.

If the former   Mad  Mad   The finale will be played out in the barn.

The chickens don't seem at all concerned so I don't see a problem there. But, they aren't collecting the eggs so perhaps collecting a few stingoors instead may get their minds back on the task they were set.

Unless there's something about this to hurt the chickens, I don't see the need for much of a reaction. If I'm tired of them dodging chores, I may offer to give mine (both, if the situation calls for it) a whipping if it's not finished in... whatever a slightly less than reasonable time would be.

but really, I think it's best just ignored.

It looks like I may have caught them mid prank. I am sure no harm has been done nor much intended. So some stingers after the boys have put the chickens down in the right place

CLUCK!

Worst I can see is the boys may end up with egg on their face.

One more of the many occasions I could have wished for a "Bransom Dad!

This was within the first year we had moved to the farm and I thought dad (Alex) might have some sense of humor. We moved the chickens from the henhouse over to the storage barn and we were going to claim they were all MIA and there were no eggs to be had.

At the time we were caught (with chickens in hand much like the photo) we found, much to our chagrin just how little a sense of humor he had about such things. We were ordered to return the chickens to the coop and we got our age in HARD strop licks.

I'm going to join John Boy at Katzy's campfire. There we can share our own stories of rather harmless pranks that backfired when we were kids Smile

Once I put a living frog into the postbox of an elderly dragon lady in our house who never could stop loudly proclaiming all my misdeeds to the whole neighborhood. What became of the frog I don't know but HER shriek was priceless. Sadly my sister and me were the only kids in the house so this one too made it into the neighborhood news.

I agree with Kier. I can't see how the chickens could be hurt by this.
