I would say this Tom Sawyer could use a good old switching and no way will he be able to talk his way out of it.

In 1964 from a large Italian immigrant family? Pretty sure his mother's other plans involved a belt, a bare bottom, and a whole lot of screaming.

Can't argue with that. Smile

Before Mom's done I bet he'll be thinking he should have put some coins in that fountain instead of taking them out.  Smile

I disagree with Kier - I think it would have been Dad with the belt. It always seemed to me that Mom's went more for spoons, brushes, and switches. Other than that little detail, I think everyone is head on...

I'm just surprised the boy was able to sit for the picture.

I'm pretty sure he would know what to expect and it may be that expectation that encouraged him to stay away that long.

Whether his pleas that he's saved parents the cost of feeding him all that time will mollify them I doubt, but it would be worth trying!

If from a God-fearing family, I'm confident that he'll discover what "spare the rod and spoil the child" means in practice. However, if from a mafiosa family, maybe his escapade would be seen as good training for his future career in crime. Even so, eventually he made the mistake of getting caught, so the result for his backside might be the same either way!

Yeah, no danger. the place was full of police... looking for him Exclamation  He knows whats coming. Only question is whether Mom or Pop is cutting the switch. I like the way the paper says the boy was hustled home. Hope his folks didn't completely squash his sense of adventure and that he gets allowed out now

I am very pleased! He has demonstrated an excellent ability to fend for himself and should turn into a great anti -establishment, anti-government activist!!

Stevie's parents showed him the article in the local newspaper and hinted broadly that they wouldn't mind if he did the same thing...

As long as he didn't get found and all...

Stevie...
