This is the third time this week that 11-year old Steven hasn't been home on time. Worse than that, when you called, he pretended not to hear you, so...

Will the walk of shame make enough of a point, or is the worst still to come?

his butt like his feet will be bare in a few minutes... Maybe just for emphasis I can point out all the nice switch branches on the walk of shame... Then paddle his disobedient butt.

We'll continue that walk on into the den where I will add some 'warmth' to his day. Twisted Evil

His friends probably expect some rear warming for him so I won't dissapont them.

Seriously, there is not enough input for me in this BOTD to decide what happens to the boy.

I'm going to give him a spanking when we get home. I see no reason to be overly harsh but these issues do need to be addressed.

Third time this week? Pretended not to hear me? Clearly talking hasn't made the point. Like everyone else, I think this calls for a spanking.

How do I know he pretended not to hear me? My response depends on whether I gave a clear warning to expect a spanking the next time he was late. Whether or not I decide to give him a spanking, I don't feel a "walk of shame" is a good idea. I try never to add humiliation to legitimate punishment.

Knowing how I was raised, I'm presuming Steve knows by what time he's to be home. Whether he hears my calling him or not, since I can see him I'll be fetching him and will either be holding his hand (which would be an embarrassing thing to do IMO) or guiding him with my hand as shown in the picture. I don't consider that a walk of shame... more like directed movement.

Once home I'll be, as much as possible, spanking him in private. (On a hot day, the windows will stay opened.) Three days of disobedient behavior may not get him a deluxe punishment, but it will be more than a minor one.

I'm also (sort of) taking the Kat line. There is no reason why he can't walk beside me or even be sent ahead to 'get ready' as I'm presuming we are operating on a 'three strikes and you are out' policy.

Clearly there is much to discuss. We will collect his paddle and continue till we reach the usual place in the house where thos pants will come down. Disobedience and then triyng to blow me off. Needs to be enough to deter this sort of behaviour

Like Ivor, I about half agree with Kat.

There were too many times when I was a kid that my mom thought I must have heard her, so that meant I had heard her and just ignored her. I won't punish a kid based on that with no other proof.

On the other hand, while I'm not going to deliberately embarrass him, if he can't be home on time, and I have to walk down there to get him, if he's embarrassed by it, or his friends assume he's going to have a sore bottom... Well, he could have avoided it.

And, while I'm willing to do something to help him be more on time, I'm pretty sure he's going to at least be filling a little warm by the time we're through talking.
