19 May 2014: If a Picture Paints a Thousand Words...

You, your brother and sister have all gathered for a long weekend at your parents house - the old farm where you grew up.

Your son, Thad - 7 - is seen here, about to play with two of his cousins. The resulting noise draws your attention.

"In the end, it's just a story. But if you ask me, it's all true."

John Boy

judging from the pic he is just asking for a Whupin.

I don't know about a whuppin', but definitely a swat(s) and the confiscation of his trusty slingshot.  And the mantra from A Christmas Story about putting someone's eye out.

Five words only..."To the barn with you!!"

Stone Man

From the looks of things, Thad is going to loose his jeans and briefs and get spanked on the spot. As they are all young, if the girls care to watch it'll be OK with me.

David M. Katz

What we can't see is the crazed squirrel about to attack the girls. Thad is gong to shoot the squirrel and protect his cousins.

He is a hero and shall be hugged.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Cleverly disguised as a responsible adult.

Very Happy .....I like Katz Idea but Im gonna say it was a snake.....

but the  Twisted Evil  me is in agreement with Dimitri...

hugs kal

Thads backside is about to be sorer than his little cousins, who I guess he's none to fond of. Oh and I think the girls watching would be appropriate too

I would not let girls watch this at all, and probably not boys in a similar situation. However, I won't chase them out of hearing range.

Yes, Thad is losing his slingshot, and we're having a safety talk, but only after he's recovered well enough (and his pants and shorts) to sit down and listen to it.

"In the end, it's just a story. But if you ask me, it's all true."

A vital part of this sequence is missing.

Am I going to punish on an ASSUMPTION of intent........NO

For a 7yo to be able to pull the elastic back so far it has to be a pretty puny slingshot - and anyway what was the intended missile?  Was it even loaded?

I'm going to cough loudly.  Thad will turn to give me a sheepish and somewhat apprehensive look and turn his aim elsewhere.

Message received and understood.

If the situation the pic suggests is, indeed, what is happening, without any qualification, then Thad is getting a good spanking.

I will do as MM suggested. But if he fires, he get some swats. He will also get the lectures of shot out eyes, even if he doesn't shoot.
