About James
A John Ross Production

Your eight year old son James is a typical boy and like a typical boy he gets into trouble. You usually spank him as punishment for misbehaviors but use standing in the corner and other punishments. If he is going to be spanked the ritual is the same, before bed he waits outside your room in his pajamas and then you call him into your room, discuss what he did then give the punishment. Here's James tonight:

What did he do and what will be his punishment?

James' teacher sent a not home saying James was disruptive in class today. It has been a while since James got a note home. No punishment this time - just burning ears and no burning butt. However, if there is a next time . . . Twisted Evil

(I need to really reconsider this procedure as having an 8 year old wait for punishment is not a good idea. I should have dealt with James as soon as the problem became apparent.)

James is wearing his Spider-man pajamas, so obviously I must be mistaken about him being in trouble. I'll apologize, and we'll go read a comic before I tuck him into bed.

Awww ... I don't know that he did anything wrong. Just give him a good hug and tuck him in bed. Cool

He looks too happy! I'm going to wipe that smile off his face. One way or another that boy is going to learn to eat his green beans!! Twisted Evil

He doesn't look guilty to me. I think some bedtime reading and tucking in is more likely than a spanking.

James lied to his Mom about doing his homework and blurted out the fact that it was still to do when asked tohelp clear up after dinner. Silly boy. Now he is done with that and has had his bath but has a short sharp paddling coming before bedtime

He's standing outside the door waiting for his weekly dose of Fletcher's Castoria...

It tastes so good children love to take it... that's why he's smiling so broadly...

Not to mention that he's imagining how good it will feel when he wakes up tomorrow and experiences the gentle yet thorough relief and all...

Something like that happened to one of my grammar-school playmates -- he found his mother's Ex-Lax and mistook it for chocolate candy. As he said, "I was busy for the rest of the day."

No one in my neighborhood got dosed on purpose, maybe because of accidents like that. Only economists should practice quantitative easing.
