Dangerous Play
An Ivor Production

You walk up and see your son Devin and his friend making a video. The woman comes over and demands the boy be spanked for 'dangerous play. You've heard the boys talking about the women in question. She's not very popular with the boys and you know for a fact some of them have messed up her yard last halloween.

Any spanking for Devin?

Assuming Devin is the boy who shoots at goal, and that I have the opportunity to see the video before deciding how to deal with it, I'm not taking any action against him for dangerous play.

Throughout, his eye was on the ball, not on the background and I accept that he is unlikely to have seen the lady until too late. One can't recall a football when it is in mid-air!

However, I might be minded to spank him if he failed to react to her with a proper apology, but that isn't what she is complaining about!

I agree with Pi. This totally looks like an unfortunate accident to me. Devin is playing in a space designated for such and he seems to be concentrating on the ball. I see no intent of malice. She was just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I do agree that an apology is the decent thing to do here.

I mostly agree with Pi. Considering the way this woman is talking to me, I would have a problem doing anything to the boys, as long as they didn't completely ignore what happened. I will talk to them a bit when we're private, but it's not going to be a huge deal, I dont think.

They are in trouble! Well, then again let's look at the evidence more closely.

There is NOT a net about that goal frame and the ball went over the low boundary fence.

Me thinks that the municipality is in trouble -- the goal frame seem fixed in position and the safety fence is less than half the height it should be.

And yes, she entitled to an apology even though the boys were playing in an official play ground in a normal way.

I think Pi has it right.

I'm with the majority. No spanking.

This does just look like an unfortunate accident Devin has hit the target in both senses. His concentration is totally on the ball, it is a hard and accurate shot from a young man totally focussed on the ball and unfortunately as Pi says, for the lady she is in the wrong place at the wrong time. You might think if you walk by a sports pitch you might look out for flying balls though
I would hope Devin might have the grace to at least be concerned for the lady's welfare, apologize even. His reaction and not the strike might get him in trouble. Still its a nice video staged or not

had he done this though https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgaIw829Yxk
