Caleb is a little Jumpy?
An Ivor Production
Your 14 year old son Caleb is an active kid. He especially enjoys the trampoline you bought a couple of years back.

Unfortunately the safety netting on the side of it broke a fortnight or so ago as a result of which you told Caleb he couldn't use it until it was fixed. You've been meaning to get it done, but other more important things keep cropping up and you just haven't got round to it.

Today you come home and see:

Caleb claims he hasn't been bouncing on it - just playing around.

Are you going to go along with that or is he in for a spanking - his usual punishment for disobedience since he has clearly been 'using it'?

Hey knew the rules, they are safety rules I think a good ear and rear burning might be in order then I need to make the net my top priority.

Having grown up with a trampoline with no safety netting, I am of two minds about this. I would probably not restricted the use of the trampoline, but since I did, Caleb is getting a spanking. After he has settled down, the two of us can go get the things we need to fix the netting and do it together.

He clearly does enjoys this so sorting the netting is a priority. I will give Caleb a couple of swats with the paddle and we will talk about disobedience, why I made the rule, safety etc but I find it hard to come down like a ton of bricks when really I should be pleased Cal is outside getting exercise unlike a lot of teens

I'll ask him to remove his belt and give it to me while we discuss his disobedience and the reasons I insisted he should not use the trampoline until the netting had been repaired. He'll probably have to hold up his jeans unless he thinks it wisest to let them down at this stage!

However, since I am partially at fault for having delayed and delayed doing the repair, I'll not use the belt as he will have been fearing and we'll both go and get the necessary netting and repair it togather, getting extra so from now on he'll be respponsible for all netting repairs and understand I'll enforce "no trampolining with damaged netting" rigorously with that self-same belt.

I'm going along with Square on this one.

A fortnight is a couple of weeks, right?

If he really wasn't jumping on it, and it's been that long since I said I was going to fix it, I think I can let this slide. If he actually was jumping on it (or can't convince me he was doing something else), I think a mild penalty is in order. Other than that, Square about hits it for me - let's get 'er done.

This is the one I thought of before reading. I still like it.
