LOGICAL CONSEQUENCES
A DMK Production

Your thirteen year old son, Mitch, developed a problem of being difficult to wake up and get going in the mornings.  You checked things out and found out that, against a rule to the contrary,  Mitch had been getting up after bed time and playing with his computer until the wee hours of the morning.  Instead of spanking Mitch you felt the logical consequence would be the loss of his computer for two weeks.  You impounded Mitch's laptop and told him you would only allow him to use it if needed for a verified school assignment.

You work from home and so you are normally home when Mitch gets in from school but this afternoon you needed to go see a client off site for a meeting and you let Mitch know you would be getting home late.

The meeting concludes sooner than expected so you head home.  You find your son in your office (a place he is not supposed to be) and he is using your computer (he figured out your password.)  Mitch is obviously surprised to see you.

By the way, that is NOT a school assignment he is working on.

What happens?

He was given a logical consequence for misbehavior. He circumvented it. He's getting spanked. I'm changing my password using a random password generator he'll NEVER figure out.

Punishing my son for behaving like nature has programmed him for is neither rational nor effective.  Got to get him into a school with proper hours -- like starting at 10am so he can stay up late and still get the necessary amount of sleep.

Failing that, perhaps he can run on a different time zone?

Or there some drugs he can be filled with to make Mother Nature conform to the
 school boards schedule for him.

P.S.  A few districts have changed their high school start time and found that the students do better (probably because they don't sleep through the first two periods). Smile  For that matter, starting elementary school earlier would also make sense.

I have to fall in with Kier. A spanking would be the logical outcome for what is an obvious circumvention of the original punishment.

I'm going along with Kier also.

Kier is right. He avoided a restriction so spanking comes next

He gets a special meal of:

Toast
Warm buns
Rump roast
Cooked goose

AND

the computer restriction still stands.

It looks like he's programming to me and all...

He's certainly not playing a video game unless he's gone to the year 1975 and playing BASIC based minicomputer Star Trek...

If he is programming I'm not about stopping him, unless he's trying to crack my password and all using a DOS based utility...

Stevie.
