A DMK Production
Your thirteen year old son, Scotty, is participating in a project for his Health class at school. To help the students understand what is required to take care of a baby the students were assigned a stuffed animal to take care of as one would a baby for a week. The students are then to write a report on the experience.
Scotty was assigned a stuffed penguin that he named Annie Artica. Scotty has been very faithful to the project and to Annie Artica. He even built her a "crib" out of an old box. Scotty is proving to be a really good dad to his new charge.
One of Scotty's chores is to mow the lawn every Saturday (weather permitting.) Scotty is always good about taking care of this chore and has never had any issues related to mowing the lawn. Today is Saturday and Scotty informs you he cannot do the lawn. He says he can't leave Annie unsupervised and to take her with him when he mows would be "irresponsible parenting." You tell Scotty that you will babysit Annie while he mows for the fee of one dollar. (The purpose of the assignment is to impress on the students the reality of parenting.) Scotty protests but you ask him how it is he thinks parents with children go to work every day - they hire a sitter or a day care. Scotty still refuses to pay you to be a sitter but he also refuses to mow the lawn.
