Bottoms Up!
An Ivor Production

You've been away for the weekend. Your 16 year old son Kyle didn't want to come with you for reasons he wasn't entirely clear about. However, you could understand why he wouldn't want to spend the weekend at a quiet lodge on the lake and besides it gave you and your spouse time to be entirely on your own.

A good weekend ensued for you, but the weather broke on the Sunday evening so you decided to come home then rather than on the Monday morning. On entering the house you see:

I quietly remove the evidence and let him sleep it off. In the morning, however......

I'm suspicious!  That bottle is neatly capped -- the top completely screwed on.  That's not what a wasted youth would do.

I'm afraid I'll have to wake him.  If he's clean then it's off to bed.  If not, I don't want him wetting the couch -- better something protected with, say a mattress pad or the old cot.

And of course he was vague -- he is a polite boy and did not want to say he did not want to spend the weekend with with his parents -- that's so babyish.

Let's get him to bed and let him sleep and then we can discuss it all when he is more alert.

That looks like bottle of the hard stuff.  Can I rouse him?  If not its an immediate call to the emergency services.

If I can then I'll be assessing his sobriety.  With the cap on the bottle it seems he's gone to sleep whilst still capable.  I need to find out how much he has had before I decide what further steps to take.

They will depend on what I discover.  We will be having a discussion if  (or when) he is sober and the next bottom up could well be a pink fleshy one.

The picture is certainly suggestive. I sure hope he hasn't drunk to the point of passing out! I think I may have cause for concern. I'm just not sure that concern is going to be expressed in a punitive way. I think I'll really have to talk to him and evaluate the situation before deciding what to do. He may end up with a sore backside... or not.

He has put the cap on the bottle so looks like he hasn't just passed out. I will try to wake him, smell his breath to tell if he's indulged much while helping him get comfortable in his own bed ad then show him the bottle tomorrow. He may be sore in more than one place tomorrow
