I thought You Should Know,
But Don’t Say How You Found Out

A Kat Production

You have three children: a daughter, Julia, age 15; and two sons, 17-year-old Robbie and 13-year-old Sean. Despite the four-year age difference, the boys get along well and are close. They also share a room, as your house has only three bedrooms.

Today Robbie comes to you and says he has something important to tell you, but first, he wants you to promise not to get angry. After you assure him you’ll do your best, he tells you that Sean has been smoking. He’s getting the cigarettes from a friend whose mom smokes and never notices a few missing ones from an open package. Robbie found some cigarettes by accident. He has tried to talk Sean into giving up smoking, which he has been doing for a couple of weeks, without success. He concludes by saying, “I thought you should know, but please don’t say how you found out. Sean will never forgive me if he finds out I told you.”

I'll check Sean's room under the guise of "putting away laundry". If I don't find the cigarettes there, I'll see whether I can smell smoke on him when he comes home, which will prompt a discussion, very likely including a spanking and whiz quizzes for a while. If not, I'll be watching like a hawk, but am not going to violate Robbie's confidence. As a 13 year old, he's very unlikely to be clever enough to not get caught for long.

I'll go along with Kier. Now I know he is having even the occasional cigarette I'm sure I'm going to be able to detect the smell of smoke.

But I'm also tempted to spank Robbie for his awful taste in shorts and socks

I think I'm going to get some test strips, then test both boys because "I've been worried about a few signs and smells, and I want to make sure neither of you is smoking."

If Sean comes clean beforehand, I'll probably take it (comparatively) easy on him. Either way, we'll have a long talk about why smoking (and stealing, if he admits where he's getting them) is a bad idea, including health and legal reasons.

I'm in agreement with the general consensus.... I like jacks idea of poping both then that should take care of helping the oldest....

My initial thought before reading other answers was to test both so that the treatment seemed even, though the outcome will be different!

Spanking at this stage may well drive the smokimg underground, as it were, so I'll start with education about the risks etc - as well as further testing.

Yep! Razz Twisted Evil

As far as my answer, I line up closely with Jack.
