EXPECTING IT
A John Boy Production

You have a ten year-old son, Mickey.  Mickey is typically a good boy and most issues can be handled by a stern talk or a time out in his room, but, when he does find himself in more serious trouble, you do spank him. You have found that requiring Mickey to stay in his room after a spanking and have an early bed time serves to reinforce the issue. Mickey has become used to changing in to his pajamas and "serving his time" post spanking.

Today Mickey is not his normal self and has found himself in some trouble with your SO.  The issue is not major but it is borderline.  Mickey is sent to his room to wait on you to get home.  Your SO's intent is that the time out in his room and a talk from you will be sufficient.  (Mickey only has about a half hour to wait.)

You get home and are advised of the issue.  It is your plan to go see Mickey and have a talk and then release him to go about the rest of his day.

You go in and see Mickey:

The fact that Mickey has changed in to his pajamas means he is expecting a spanking. (He must consider the problem more serious than you or your SO do.)

Do you change your plan and meet his expectations?

The original intention was not to spank, and I see no reason to change it and all...

I'm with Stevie. Mickey's opinion is pretty much irrelevant unless I'm prepared in future to honor his decision that he doesn't deserve a spanking.

Of course, the lad looks as though he actually is looking forward to the spanking...

We should probably find a punishment that he doesn't enjoy...

"Mickey, we need to talk. I heard about what happened today. You know why that was not a good decision, right?"

"Yeah."

"Having a time out in your room should help you think about that and figure out what to do differently, right?"

"Uh, yeah."

"OK, then, let's don't have this problem again. Can we agree to that?"

"Uh, sure."

"Well, that's all I guess. You can come out of your room if you want."

"Thanks."

"Oh, Mickey, are you extra tired today?"

"No, not really, why?"

"Well, you have your pj's on so I thought you might be wanting to go to bed early or something."

"Uh . . . no, I'm good."

"Good to hear it. Dinner's in an hour. See you then."

I leave and Mickey is free to go on with his life.

Kat has summed up the situation neatly - and anyway it doesn't pay to upset the SO. Smile

Interesting that my SO seemed to leave him with the impression he was in more trouble than he thought. I'll let him talk throuh what happened in case there is more to it then the rest of the conversation will goes as outlined by Katz
