The Winner
A Peter Z Production

That was great he - Chris - your son - really won the race. You have been feverish with him and you are so lucky with him.
The first time he took part in this nationwide meeting and just won it. The 3 preparation days at the athletic camp have paid off.
You are such proud of him and now, after the evening ceremony, you will take him with you home again.

But there is this other issue. He skipped school not only - as agreed - for the preparation camp, but already two days ahead. You just find out the day before.

Yesterday you were really upset and thought about, to lay out the strap already to give it to him, when you bring him back home. It would be the first time after nearly half an year pause. Yesterday you were really upset, because you thought your son in now on the right path and now the trouble with school is back again.

Chris is no stranger to spankings. Since he started school and still with 12, he was spanked quite regularly. Not only for school issues - also at home he was quite a brat sometimes. Sometimes he managed to keep out of trouble for nearly two month but also quite often his bared bottom had a meeting with your hand, spoon, hairbrush or strap nearly every week. But now with 14 (soon getting 15) he still does for school only as much as just necessary, but he behaves well at home and keeps out of trouble.

Now in the common pleasure of his win, you feel so close with him.
On the drive home you have not brought up the subject for distress up to now.

Will you bring it up this evening, wait till tomorrow? Give him just a stern warning - dispense the spanking?

Since I have the strap ready I might as well put it to good use... give him some stripes to brag about at camp I reckon

I think this needs to be addressed right away. The longer I wait, the more awkward it will be. It's too bad to spoil the victory, but I really don't see a lot of choice.

Nope.

We're going to have a long and serious talk. However, I believe that after six months of good behaviour and on a day he has achieved something special that means so much to both him and you to then spank him would be so, so wrong.

I'm a little confused by this, but I'm just going to say that, if I found out before the race that he skipped two days of school BEFORE missing another four days (3 for the camp and one for the actual race), I've already gone incredibly easy on him by still letting him participate and not switching his butt.

Before we get home, I'm going to let him know how incredibly proud I am of him, and that I'm glad he's found something that inspires him to work hard, and that I want to help him continue in this and keep developing.

HOWEVER, my pride in this achievement doesn't reduce my dismay at his other actions. I'll let him know that, when we get home, he'll be getting the worst whipping of his life, and I'll ask if he wants to shower before or after.

Chris appears to have been something of a problem child but now he appears to be moving uphill

Chris is not academically inclined but he does do enough to just keep up

Chris has found a sport that - with hard work he can excel in.

Those two skipped days.  How did he spend them?  Was he making extra preparation for the training camp?  The scenario doesn't say.

Chris is, probably for the first time in his life, A WINNER and I am not about to do anything to diminish that.

That he is proud and that he is feeling good about himself has provided a positive platform that he/we may be able to build on in other ways.

Of course the fact that he skipped school needs to be addressed, but not yet for a day or two, and then in a constructive rather than a punitive way.

This is my concern too.
On the other side skipping school is serious.
Therefore would address this to him and make clear that he earned him a severe spanking for that.
If he is ruefully I would let him off once more otherwise he get the strapping.

Nationwide success!  Bravo, Chris!

I'm going to grapple to get that tight Lycra onesey down and whack him!  Who wouldn't? Wink

I need to have a talk with him when we get home. I'll stress how proud of him I am, because I know how hard he has worked. However, we'll also talk about how important school is and how, without having to give up on any opportunities, you can't really rely only on the possibility of a sport career.

I'll say that I know it's hard to deal with schoolwork and sport training at the same time, but I'll say that he can't sacrifice school work.

Then he'll get a strapping. Afterwards I'll remind him of how proud I am, even if I had to punish him, and after giving him some time to recover we'll go have dinner somewhere he likes, to celebrate his win.

I at least have to raise it with him.

Chris you know son Im thrilled for you. You worked hard for this an earned it. Its just a pity I can say the same about the other stuff... You know the school stuff. Ok I'll say it. The truancy.

Now see how he reacts

He may escape with just the lecture and whatever the school imposes. He WILL also do the catch up work but, if the attitude is wrong I may just have to ruin what ought to be a great day

Well, that's a difficult one. I think I would prefer to postpone the spanking until the next day. Seeing how he's super-exhausted right now, and might even feel a bit numb after giving his all to the run, I don't think spanking him on the evening of his triumph would do him much good, besides the obvious emotional problems. That a severe spanking is needed, however, is beyond question for me.

I"m with Kat on this one.  Waiting doesn't make things better.  He'll get lots of congratulations, praise and encouragement from me now, but I'll also have to tell him that he's getting a deluxe spanking when we get home.
