DISTRESSING AND SAD NEWS - PI BETA HAS PASSED AWAY

Cowboy
I am deeply saddened to have to advise our Bransom community that one of our very dear friends and writers, PI BETA, passed away on 17th June 2017.

I have just received the following from one of his friends and fellow writers:

A kind neighbour of [his] informed me that [he] died on 17th June after being admitted to hospital several days earlier and quickly lapsing into a coma from which he never emerged. ..... As you'll know, he put a short explanation on the forum recently about why he'd be writing no more stories and admitting that his cancer, which he has fought courageously for several years, was now terminal.

Pi was a frequent participant here at Bransom Forum and Chat room, and very fine Author at MMSA where he wrote a splendid collection of 148 stories over a period from 2005 to early 2017.

Perhaps more importantly he was a very dear friend to our special little communities here at  Bransom and at MMSA.

It was not entirely unexpected though still very distressing. Sadly his final MMSA Forum comment on Author Journal on June 2nd sounded like it was a farewell.

Pi Beta wrote:
I'm not really sure where I should post this. I've had a number of readers asking when they might see another story from me. My present position is that I have been laid low by aggressive cancer treatment that has failed and am now being treated to regain some strength and recover from a myriad of blood clots in both lungs. This is a slow process and there has recently been a further development that suggests that the cancer has spread. Writing is one of the last of my priorities at this time and I would suggest that the 148 stories on the archive may well be my lifetime total.

A very sad time for all.

Rest in peace, Pi. This is very sad news. Pi wrote many fine stories for which he will be fondly remembered. I am glad we were able to have closure and to know that he is no longer suffering.

I am very saddened by this news. P was an extremely talented writer and it was always an honor and privilege to read one of his stories. I am so sorry to learn this news. However, it is comforting that he is no longer suffering.

Rest in peace, Pi Beta! Thank you for giving us so many great stories! You shall be missed, but not forgotten. Sad

I was privileged to have a number of long talks with Pi over the time I knew him: sometimes about spanking, sometimes about writing, sometimes about religion, and sometimes about other things. The man was talented in many fields. He was devout, and he was patient and understanding - something I often need help with.

My grandmother went something like this. It was hard to watch, and while I'll miss Pi, I'm glad he's finished with what he had to endure.

I always thought of Pi as the James Herriot of spanking fiction. Many of his stories were so descriptive that you could see yourself there. While he did write a lot of other stories, many of which explored different styles and approaches, I think he'll be best remembered for the Andrew Trevallion series, which could pretty much make it as 'real literature'.

I'm not sure how widely this was known, but Pi also wrote travelogues from the point of view of his dog. They were greatly entertaining as well.

RIP - the world will be a poorer place without you.

This sad news though not unexpected. I just hope that Pi was at least comfortable at the end following the previous aggressive treatments.

Rest In Peace Pi Beta.

Johnno, thank you for letting us know about this.

Very sad news. Having treated many people with this condition, we can take some comfort knowing Pi is no longer suffering, and that we have the comfort of having closure rather than another member who just disappeared. RIP Pi.

This is very distressing. I had opportunity to share communication with Pi on many occasions through chat, email, and story feedback.

I found him to be a gentleman. He was always kind and supportive and, even when things looked grim, a happy and joyful person.

Even though, by his admission, my stories weren't his 'thing,' he was a faithful reader who always sent supportive feedback.

His superb stories stand as a memorial to his talent and abilities as a writer.

May he rest in peace.

So sad to hear. he seeme a kind compassionate man judging by my cyber acquaintanceship with him and his writings and I am sorry there will be no more from him. I know from losing my Father and Grandmother along with a number of friends what a blight cancer is and hope he was at peace at the end.

RIP PI Beta

Thanks to Jack, Pi had this place, Bransomtx, where he was able to post his farewell, and where we were able to respond with our good wishes - which will have been some comfort when Pi was suffering.
